We are excited to welcome you to Bella’s Homestead and share with you the how’s and why’s of what we do here on the farm.
We will start our tours on May 15th this year and run until the August 15th weekend. Tours run on the hour from 11am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sunday’s. The tours are $15 as we take about 30-40 minutes to walk around the farm and taste four different sparkling wines.
Starting May 14th, our Farm Store will be open 11-4pm, Friday through Monday, if you choose to purchase something after the tour.
Tours are all conducted outside and follow Covid-19 protocols, with no one group larger than six people, and tours will only accommodate up to 10 people per hour. When booking please select how many people will be in your group. If only one person or spot is available, that does mean that there is only space for one more person, not one more group.
Tours start on the hour, if you are running behind, you can join the tour after you have been checked in and answered some covid questions upon arriving.
If you need to cancel your tour appointment, please do so up to 48 hours prior.
I work hard around the farm but when I get physically exhausted it’s “time for a sit” which for me is a light snack, some bubbles and a wee chat with Jay – just enough to energize me for the next task. Now I want to share this ritual with you on Friday’s! Starting Friday, June 18th you can sit down with me for an hour on our tasting room patio, taste four bubbles, and have a wee chat about all sorts of things with the following snack themes:
- 11am – Second Breakfast – by this time of the day I need a quick protein boost which usually is one of our farm fresh eggs hard boiled, a wee bit of cheese, a slice of bread and a fruit preserve I’ve whipped up from whatever is in season and of course bubbles because it *is* a breakfast beverage. Hah!
- 1pm – Grazing – outside of harvest, sit down lunches are rare on the farm so I end up slicing up local charcuterie and cheese along with a crust of bread and a savoury something I’ve pickled or preserved from the farm. The days are blisteringly hot in summer and I always reach for bubbles with bracing acidity to scrape the sweat off my tongue.
- 3pm – the Happiest Hour (aka “bubble o’clock”) – remember bar snacks? That bowl of peanuts / chex mix touched by every patron will no longer be a thing …. ever. But I miss that quaint offering so I typically reach for salty things at this time of day: nuts, pickles, chips, cheese and bubbles because bubbles love salt.
If you’re in the neighbourhood and we are not open, and would like to purchase some of our bubbles for pick up, please ORDER ONLINE and select “pick up at winery” as the shipping option and we will make sure to pack your order and schedule a pick up time to suit your travel plans. Please allow us at least 48 hours for us to prepare you order.
Cheers! Wendy and Jay and Buddha
