This beauty was made as a “blanc de noirs” using Mariani Vineyard Cabernet Franc fruit and is possibly the most fun wine we made this year.  The incredibly floral nose is deceiving against the juicy melon and plum palate with a herbal undertone to remind you it is cab franc.  Whip up something spicy and watch the character profile evolve with your food selection.

MARIANI VINEYARDS - We are delighted to work with Lorna Fraser and Phil Mariani to source organically farmed Gamay grapes on the lakeside of Naramata Road.  Inspired by their love of Beaujolais, Lorna and Phil decided to plant not one, but TWO, clones of Gamay on their three acre site: clone 787 (a unique varietal for BC) and clone 509 (the more well known varietal here).  With two clones being farmed identically on the same site this allows us to play with single clonal expressions for a better understanding of this sometimes overlooked grape. Go. Gamay. Go.

For a second planing, the Mariani’s decided to plant an additional acre comprised of Muscat and Cabernet Franc. With such loving stewardship shown with the Gamay clones, it should be no surprise that these additional varietals are also of exceptional quality.
